Cute little Smokey is a purebred blue heeler dog with great markings, soft coat, and a very, very friendly disposition towards people. She was found stray outside our institution and we are caring for her (and giving her a little training too) until she finds her new forever home. She needs to be spayed as well, which we are planning to do in early March 2010 if she is still here. Please read up on this breed as herding breeds are very special! This is one loving little dog who needs an active household.

Zoey is a very sweet-faced boxer mix who loves to play and be a typical puppy! She is in the training program at Southeastern Correctional, and came to us from a rescue in Morgan County, Ohio (S.P.O.T.). She is about seven months old as of this date (2-10-10) and will probably grow to about 50 or 60 pounds. She is proving already to be a very smart girl and she will be ready to go in late March or possibly earlier.

Chloe is from Savings Pets One at a Time rescue in Morgan County, Ohio. She is now in the prison training program at Southeastern Correctional in Lancaster, where she is already a very popular dog, due to her friendly demeanor and striking good looks! Chloe is possibly a boxer/rott mix, or maybe hound--not sure but her markings are very nice and she is doing VERY well with her basic obedience training. Chloe is a sweet pup who will offer you her paw and loves to be petted and adored. She is not too terribly hyper or active for a puppy, quite docile and would therefore be a wonderful family pet.

Bear is a six-month old black lab puppy who is too cute! He and his brother, Bruno were pulled from a pound a day before they were scheduled to be euthanized. They are purebred black labs, with very soft, thick coats and happy, fun personalities. They are now in the prison dog training program at Southeastern Correctional. Their adoption fee is $100. They are up to date on shots and are scheduled to be neutered in February 2010. They are proving to be very trainable and very smart.

Jasmine is from the Fairfield Area Humane Society, where she was found stray and brought to the shelter. She is a lively girl, full of energy and ready to romp her way into your heart! Jasmine is the in the training program at Southeastern Correctional where she will become an even more adoptable family pet, learning her basic commands, leash manners and housetraining. She is a black lab mix with boxer or even possibly a little bit of Great Dane, judging by her ears and muzzle. She will not be too large, though--under 60 pounds. She has short hair and a very friendly, fun disposition. A fenced yard or a couple of long daily walks is a must for Jasmine. She is ready for adventure!

Becca is a beautiful little terrier mixed with Italian Greyhound. She is a little timid when you first meet her, but she warms up quickly. She is currently in the prison dog training program at Southeastern Correctional, where she has learned plenty of commands, is housebroken, and waiting patiently for her new forever home! Becca would fit in with just about any household, but potential adopters may want to be careful around little children. A house with older kids might be best for this little black beauty! She is playful and affectionate once she gets to know you. A great dog for an apartment dweller, as she is small.

Kari is a smooth collie, one of a litter of four that we've had had in the prison program since they were little pups. Kari is the only one left! She is a rambunctious, fun girl who is always up for a good time! Kari would fit in best with an active family who will play with her and run with her and let her be the crazy goof she is! Kari has been trained well and knows her commands, but she is very active and needs a fenced yard and someone who understands her personality and will work with her. A beautiful dog with a sweet face and a lovable disposition, that's our Kari.

Elvis came to the prison program from the Perry County Humane Society. He is a big old baby of a dog, a German Shep mixed with Retriever, and he is very friendly and warm-hearted. Elvis was seized in a cruelty case, but you would not know it with his sweet temperament. He is learning commands and tricks already, and would like to be part of a loving family! Elvis needs some room to play--maybe a fenced yard or at least a couple of long walks. Mostly, though, Elvis needs a lot of love and affection, and he will reward you with a lot of his own love and affection!

Hunter is a visually stunning dog who is so friendly with everyone he meets! This is one happy dog! He was pulled from a shelter in Ohio, where he was scheduled to be euthanized. Thank goodness he was not, as Hunter will make someone a wonderful companion. He is in the prison training program and seems to already know most of his commands. He is part German Shepherd and part Australian Cattle Dog (also called "heeler"). His pictures do not do him justice; Hunter is beautiful to look at, and a joy to be around.

Benton is a super-cute Australian Cattle Dog, or a "heeler" as they are known, who is very friendly and fun to be around. He is in the training program and comes to us from the Fairfield Area Humane Society. Benton is learning to be housetrained and to be better on the leash, as he thinks his leash is a toy! Benton would be wonderful for a family with kids, or just someone who wants an adoring, lovable, friendly dog. He has beautiful markings, too, which is indicative of the breed. Beauty is a gorgeous mix of Newfie, Lab and Border Collie, black with some white markings. She is definitely the Queen of the House, so a house without any other pets would be the best situation for Beauty. She is very smart and well-trained, but needs a firm hand from an experienced adopter to keep her on task. Very playful, fun-loving, affectionate and protective, too--if you live in the country and would like a dog to keep you company, Beauty is your girl. Coolit, or "Bones" as he is called at Southeastern, is from the Fairfield Humane Society. He was found stray and quite obviously has fought for survival, as he is, at least now, very thin and starved for food and affection. He seems to be a purebred black and tan coonhound with beautiful markings and a nice coat. Bones is new to the program but he seems to know basic commands and is not too bad on the leash, considering he is a scent hound. He will make a wonderful companion for a family or a couple, or a single person wanting a forever faithful friend.

Cute lil Shaggy Dee is a delight! He is a cocker spaniel mix with a beautiful black and white coat and that adorable, classic spaniel face. He is always looking for treats or to be petted and loved. Shaggy Dee is from Fairfield Area Humane Society, where he was dumped overnight. His coat was out of control: dirty and so matted you could not see his eyes. He has been groomed and treated with lots of TLC, though, and he looks fabulous. He is learning his commands and housetraining, too; he should be ready to go to his new forever home in early February, possibly.

Little Patrick is such a sweet boy; he is about four years old and looks like a miniature version of a black lab with a pug-like body! He is now in the training program at SCI, having come to us from Fairfield Humane. He is on a diet to shed some needed pounds, and he does have an irregular gait, due to an old injury on his rear right leg. He has probably suffered some neglect in his past life. Patrick loves attention and is already a hit at the prison. Potential adopters will need to understand his limitations due to the leg; it does not hurt him, but he cannot romp and play as long as the other dogs. If you are looking for a wonderful companion to spoil and pamper, Patrick is your boy! One look into his cute little face and you will fall in love!

Reggie's former owners neglected him to the point that he had to have his collar surgically removed. Once he was all healed, he was sent to the prison program where he has really turned into a fantastic dog. Reggie's tail is always wagging and he is very well behaved. He is ready to go and needs a forever home
